I think its on faculty day. It is mandatory that you do the test. From what I heard, the results of the test determined the bell curve so I highly recommend you complete the survival to first year math guide.

Good luck!

2EI5, 2CI5, and 2CJ4 are your main circuit courses and they are killers. Test averages were 48-50%.

The math courses (used to be 2P04/2Q04) were brutal too. A lot of people dropped 2P04 and even more dropped 2Q.

2FH3 is electromagnetics and is mostly composed of triple and quadruple integral problems..

2SH4 and 2SI4 are programming classes in Java and are pretty easy for the most part.

Second year comp is very similar, I think there are two course changes.

Any Ideas on how to do good in the 3 circuits courses(2EI5, 2CI5,2CJ4) and math courses? Any thing to watch out for?

Im also interested in knowing how the math course is and also if upper years thought there Math textbooks from year one were helpful. Just wanting to know if its useful so I can decide whether to sell it or not! I've read the reviews for the second year book and they aren't very good haha.

All math is death, essentially, but we all get through it somehow
Just know what kind of questions they'll ask and study that!!!

Lose the social life, lose the "can do" attitude and do all the questions in the book. Once you're done those, pick up the suggested reading books and do questions from there.

That's the best way to succeed.

You should have gotten a package in the mail . The "welcome to mac eng" package about 2-3 weeks ago. It also has that fireball poster thingy

You should have gotten it, I hope it didn't get lost! It has info about different organizations and people that you should know about. A lot of the information is also on the mes website at mes.mcmaster.ca though

So how would one compare math 1z04(first term) to, say... grade 12 functions and intro to calc and vectors?
and grade 12 physics to first year physics in engineering I?

I understand a good way to be "safe" in these courses is to practice and understand many kinds of different problems until they become second nature but I would like an opinion on how these courses differ from highschool.

Thanks and sorry for the slight thread-hi-jack. lol
