i don't think editions would matter but you could email the prof for the reading list

dr. king is teaching it (off topic, but he is my favourite prof at Mac), and he is fond of early austen (i.e. 'Northanger Abbey')

he will probably order the oxford world classics editions (they are the cheapest), but as long as they aren't abridged any copy should be ok.
