That's what I really hate. Some people in engineering got a 90%+ entrance average for basically just showing up to whatever highschool they went to, and then got a $3000 entrance scholarship along with the "free pass" into whatever stream they wanted.

Most of them obviously aren't getting the scholarship next year, but I only got $1000 dollars coming in with my highschool average (I get it this coming year too ). If the thing is being cut back to only being renewable for 2 years, that means that they got $1000 more than me for doing nothing >:U.

I don't mean to sound like an arrogant douchebag or anything... but still, lol.

EDIT: Does the new two year thing apply to everyone, or just new first years? I don't remember it saying anywhere that you're guaranteed the renewable scholarship if you sustain the required average. :p

Ohh I get it.. Even though the interest would be a minimal amount.. I guess it's better than nothing

I agree about the scholarship thing too. I couldn't find anything about it being renewable.. the 08/09 calendar had it (for a max of 2 years), but the 09/10 undergrad calendar doesn't .. Really weird :S

If you registered as a student in 08/09, then it's only a 2 year scholarship. (Basically if your student card starts with "08").

Awww, don't worry about it! There's tons of inc-course scholarships that you qualify for once you're an undergrad

I'm pretty sure it's only one:

http://registrar.mcmaster.ca /CALEN...ent/pg686.html

Otherwise there would be a note saying it's renewable.

Darn, I was hoping I would be missing something.. Oh well:(.. at least it's better than having to pay all of the amount without it being reduced

Yeah, it's down to one this year. It's bad for Mac because scholarships often bring a lot of incentive for other schools, especially schools like Queen's that apparently gives away money like there's no tomorrow.

Really? I found Queen's really stingy when I applied there. It makes sense since their entrance averages are so high that they don't give much.

I found Ottawa really generous. And Nipissing... first year is pretty much free if you have 95+

Haha, I'm not sure, but that's what people told me. Mac would be flying high if they offered that much.

Yeah! I saw the Lakehead and Nipissing scholarships.. You get free tuition if your average is 95%+ .. Ottawa was also one of the better ones.. But regardless, Mac is so much better than U of T.. most people I know got $0.. I was lucky enough to be offered $500, or $250.. something like that :S
