Being in Commerce, basic econ is a foundation course, even if you dont pursue econ streams. You should also brush up on your math skills. Whether they are weak or you have little idea how to apply them..its still a serious problem that will kill you in a MUCH harder commerce second year.
That being said dont panic. People fail required courses all the time. Academic advisers are good at helping you out, especially if your average is pretty good and the course is offered in the summer. Contact them (in person via appointment) and you may get a better response than you think.

How much do you know about Computer Science to suggest that to be a program for someone to take? If you are lacking in courses such as ECON 1B03/1BB3 then you most definitely should not look towards Computer Science for a program switch. Computer Science, just as other programs, gets extremely theoretical starting in second year, and not everyone can handle it. Just as other programs, the dropout rate remains high relative to some of the more 'laid back programs' out there. No offense to the OP, and no offense to anyone in particular. If you want to know what I consider to be 'laid back programs' feel free to PM me.

Worse comes to worse, OP, a former roommate of mine was kicked out of commerce after her second year, entered a humanities program, pulled her grades up and got back into commerce a year later, and even though it'll take an extra year, she'll graduate with two degrees. All is not lost either way.

What's with people telling him to go to college because he failed ONE course in his first year of uni. Shit happens, just learn from this while its this early in your university career and move forward. I would talk to an advisor to figure things out.

I'm pretty sure that if you talk to the Advisor they will help you and figure out a plan to stay in Commerce.
Also to people saying he failed a Commerce required course, this could be interpreted as Commece 1E03, 1PA0 and 1BA3 (Computer Science?) which I believe are your Commerce required courses in first year.
You are also required to take the two Econ courses, some other social science courses and Calc, which I believe you are allowed to fail any of these courses as long as you still meet the minimum cut off.

The two econ courses count as "required". There is a pdf that someone posted that specifies exactly which courses count, and both econs were listed. Basically every single course that is being used to fulfill a requirement (including choosing a course from a list) counts as "required".
