First Year Bio Profs
Hi im entering first year life science in september.
I read the master timetable, but im not sure if we were allowed to choose our own profs or not...
If we did, do u think Zhu or Wilson is better for Bio1a03
And for bio1m03, should i choose Quinn & Evans or Kolasa & Stone?

Thanks

You won't get to choose, all the profs will be teaching you at some point during the same course.

You do get somewhat of a choice for Bio. The professor you get depends, and for my first year, depended on the semester in which you were taking the course.

However, it looks like there's no escaping Quinn and Stone... [muwahahahaha]

j/k... I liked them both, but their tests, not so much...

You do, depending on availability, but in one semester, the same profs are teaching all cores.

It doesn't matter what core/section you're in. Same profs. BUT different profs during different semesters, so you can choose in this regard.

There is no such thing as a "good" bio prof here at Mac. All the profs in the Bio dept are terrible.
Just accept it, get through first year, and avoid the biology department at all costs in the future.
That being said, Quinn was awesome, Boreham was great, biology just sucks.

I know. I'd hate to spoil it, but there's a hidden message there if you highlight everything I typed.

I had both Quinn and Stone for Bio 1M03; personally I preferred Quinn's lectures, but the multiple choice questions he makes for exams are pretty tough

Well none of us have been to Western's biomed, so no one can exactly give you an answer as to which is better.

Yeah, Dr. Boreham was amazing! I loved all the guest lecuturers he brought in.

I found Dr Stone's lecuturs boring because he just read off the slides. However he is a very nice and approachable prof. He is always willing to answer questions. I found his 1st midterm questions really fair, but the second midterm's m/c was horrible and his exam questions were just plain terrible. Not that he added things we never learned before, but his options for m/c were vague. Personally I think he purposely did this because he didn't get the respect he deserved during lectures. People would always talk while he was talking and you could tell that he found it hard to control the class.

Dr. Quinn is really good prof and his lecures are very entertaining. His tests and exam questions are also very fair.

Never heard of Zhu or Evans. Never had Kolasa or Stone. Heard terrible things about Wilson. Quinn is a cutie pie.

So Kajiura isn't teaching this year? I really liked her in 1st year, also Boreham is easily one of the best profs at this school, you guys are missing out
