Nexus 7 is pretty much the best tablet in the market for it's price. [4.1 JB + Quad-core Tegra 3 + 1 GB ram]
Just remember that this tablet was created for Content consumption and not content creation. I'd suggest something like Asus Transformer. I pre-ordered it on July 5 and cancelled day before it was going to ship and I don't regret cancelling it.

Definately not worth 290, but good luck.
I reported my cable as defective and got a new charger and cable sent within a day, btw.
