McMaster will not penalize you for simply 'taking a year off' if you're in good standing. You simply don't register, and then register for the next session

Honestly, I don't think that having the "Co-op" on your degree makes any difference in the hiring world. What employers will look for is experience, regardless of how you get it, so if you can get the work and it doesn't count towards "Co-op", I say just forget the co-op tag and take the work. ATM I'm working at Bell in IT, doesn't count towards my co-op but its still related experience in the field. Good Luck.
