So my girlfriend is coming to mac this year (woo) and she's worried they will take back her offer. It is a final offer so I doubt it will make a difference but here is the situation:

She stayed back a year to take other courses for fun, and to make a bit of extra money. She wants to drop Kin 2 weeks before the exam. It will show up as a dropped course and she thinks she will get rejected because of this.

She doesn't believe me when I tell her she will not get rejected because of this, especially because she took kin last year and got a 91 in it. She retook it to get a higher mark, but not she just doesn't care due to her full time job and me being back home.

Please... tell her that it will make no difference so she can stop stressing out about dropping the course...

No, they probably won't care about her dropping it. I dropped a really shitty networking class in highschool after receiving my offer to engineering, and it didn't seem to have any effect.

They'll most likely only see her previous mark in the course (btw, who the hell has a 91% and retakes a course to get a higher mark?!).

A guy from my high school took grad 12 chem three times because he wanted to up his mark from a 90%.

Call the school (faculty of science?) and ask them if it will make any difference. I can't really see it making a difference but better safe than sorry.

Pretty sure it won't make a difference. As long as she finished with the average she needs to maintain (and if she's boosting a mark from a 91 then I assume that's not a problem) then she's set.

Hell, when I went back for my victory lap I didn't even bother officially dropping a course. At that point I already had the marks to pass, and it wasn't one of my top six, so I just sort of...stopped showing up. I even skipped the exam. =D

It could be that she wants the top scholarship...

A year of your life for $1000 extra? Nevermind non-renewable as of now.

Sounds like a real deal to me.

She's got absolutely nothing to worry about, at all.

Not to mention the money she made working during that year, as well as the experience from the work force.

Well she was working too. And $1000 less to pay to OSAP, not including the interest by the time you pay it back

To answer the question though, I don't think that would be counted against her. Especially since her average seems to be much higher than the entrance avg .

Interest doesn't accumulate until you graduate (I think it's 60 days after you graduate) or drop out of university (hopefully not). But yeah, if you don't pay OSAP within those 60 days interests starts to pile up.

Interest doesn't start accumulating for 6 months until you graduate. This includes ANY post-secondary full-time education. Meaning, if you go on for a Masters/ and/or PhD, you will not pay 6 months until after you get (all) your degrees.

Thought that was neat.

Ah, I knew there was a 6 in there somewhere XD

Also, I would like to add that you need to fill out some kind of form to notify the government that you have been admitted into graduate school. There's more information on the SFAS website.
