i'm in my third year at mac, it's my sisters situation that i'm concerned about.
Originally she was accepted into Mac from highschool for business, however, she failed one of the required classes that validated her acceptance, so Mac retracted her offer. Now she is taking the course in summer school and is sending in her updated mark in a few weeks when her course is over. She has called Mac and they have told her she has a slim chance of getting back in due to the capacity of the program. I know it's completely bumming her out and now she has placed herself on waiting lists at other schools. Anyone ever have this experience? Is it really as impossible as she thinks it is to get her offer back?

Maybe she can try to apply to a program that doesn't have a restricted capacity limit (Social Science, Humanties? -- correct me if I'm wrong) full-time or part-time. She can probably take some of the less restricted business courses that are open to everyone (Econ 1B03/1BB3, Math, etc) and try to transfer into the program next year. I'm not sure if you can directly transfer into Commerce II second year if you have all the required courses.. but it doesn't hurt to call them and check.

I honestly dont know why Commerce 1 is at capacity seeing as the commerce programs (ie. 1PA0 and 1EO3) arent even full!

I have no idea either. It's either that not all commerce students have registered for their courses, or that they've capped the program to demonstrate how pretentious they are.

To transfer from a non-Commerce program into Commerce is extremely difficult - they look for a 90+ average of the courses you've taken at University, and usually only allow individuals into Level 1 Commerce (so your sister would probably tack on a very expensive extra year if she's lucky). I transferred from McGill with a high average and still lost credits - as much as it sucks I whole-heartedly recommend waiting it out for a year back at high school.

Thanks so much for the advice guys. I feel horrible, so I know what ever she's feeling is 10000 times worse. She gets her final mark next week and I guess we'll just go from there.

I'm in a similar situation, however, I did make the stipulated conditions. My marks were just uploaded incorrectly, and amended late. I am scared, too. Another thing, I went on CUDO, and it shows that, in the past, people have entered McMaster's business program with 75-79 average. Weird.
