Guaranteed Residence Scare
Hey everyone, Ive been accepted to social sciences, and at the time of acceptance I only had a 79 average and therefore wasn't guaranteed residence. At first I thought I was okay because 2 percent isn't a lot but the lady working in the residence department said that since they deal with decimals when dealing with who gets into res after not being guaranteed, it may be tough for me. Does anyone know if a 79% average will likely get me into res, or do i have no hope?

Sorry, in university there is no leeway and no rounding up. It is what it is. However, you can still apply to be on the wait list, it never hurts and something could come up.

I know people who have gotten in off the waiting list. To maximize your chances, just make sure to fill out the residence application and submit it along with the $600 deposit to ensure that you are at the top of the waiting list. Even guaranteed people can lose their spot if they don't submit the application and deposit by the deadline. it sucks not knowing where you'll be living, but that will maximize your chances of getting a spot, so do that asap!

The averages vary from year to year, so there's no way of knowing whether your 79 will eb enough or not as the applicant pool is different this year than it was last year :(, and there's no way of knowing how many people between 79-81 ( I think 81 is the residence cut-off I believe) will actually accept their Mac offers before June 3rd. So maybe call them again after June 3rd and see if there's anything new they can tell you.
