Guests On Welcome Week
So umm, does anybody know if I can bring my friend to stay over for the weekend of September 10th-13th (technically during welcome week ... but then classes have already started on the 10th)
Do you think my friend can stay over at my res?

For the first week, technically they aren't allowed to stay overnight.
However, if you get them in before sign-ins (9:00), then you should be fine.

9PM, but there's coverage and your guest will be asked to leave if they're found.
WW is the most fun week you're likely to have at Uni, make the best of it and try to make new connections, you'll regret missing it later if you choose to hang with a HS friend instead. Have your friend come stay the week after when there are no longer any issues and longer before any real work piles up in school.

what do you mean by there's no coverage? So what is the point of my friend signing in if he's going to be asked to leave? :(
I'm planning to go to Welcome Week, but the events on the 10th-12th don't really interest me, so I thought it would be okay if my friend came.

Technically you cannot have guests during welcome week.
Get them in before 9 PM (when they start covering) and make sure that he keeps a low profile. He can't exit the building and re-enter after this point.

Technically there are no guests even students from other rez buildings allowed during WW, but they only start checking who goes into the building at 9pm. So if you get the person in before then they can stay. If they have to leave the building for whatever reason then they wont be allowed back in.

Techincally if you did get them into your building etc before 9pm..... most WW events are only for mac students, so concerts and stuff have really (and i mean REALLY) tight security so theres no chance your friend will get in.
theres really no point in bringing friends from outside of mac in with you for welcome week because they probably wont be able to get into anything and will have to stay inside your res.

I don't plan on participating in the events that are happening on September 10th-12th, they seem kinda meh to me anyways.
And also, after 9PM, as in he has to stay in my res for the ENTIRE weekend without leaving? to like eat or something? or can he re-sign in the day after?

Just a note:
You wouldn't be signing him in. That's the whole point of getting him into the building before 9 P.M. If he/she tries to get in after that, he/she would have to sign in, and would get asked to leave because he/she wasn't living in your residence.

Don't knock something until you've tried it! During my first year, some events "sounded" really lame, but it wasn't until I was forcing myself to come to these events that I had some of the best experiences during Welcome Week.
Remember, your friend may only be staying for a weekend, but that time missed making new connections at MAC may be detrimental to your 3 or 4 (or more) years at MAC.

I don't think missing out of a few WW activities will be detrimental for the rest of your time at Mac. Most of my friends I met through residence, yes, it's possible at Bates or through my classes.
I didn't go to the Casino Night, Air Bands, Hypnotist, most of faculty day, but I don't feel like I missed out at all =p
