That Asus I posted before

Also comes with an SSD alongside the 750GB drive
Yeah, it's really nice. I have a question for comparison - would it be worse or just as good as the DH73, which has a 3D 120hz screen?

EDIT: All the other specs are pretty much the same, save for the DH73's 1.5TB drive but no SSD.

I've compared the two on multiple sites and these are the only differences.
DH72 on the left and DH73 on the right:

16GB RAM vs. 12GB RAM (upgradeable, though they probably have 4 3GB sticks though :/)
160 GB SSD vs. 750GB SATA 7200RPM for the secondary drives
non3d screen vs. 3d capable screen
$1899 vs. $1799 (amazon.ca, free shipping and cheapest anywhere online)

tough call I'd say. personally I'd want the SSD and extra RAM over the 3d screen and $100, but you can't go wrong with either.

Well, what are the benefits of the 3D screen? o_O; I mean, it's probably that new 3D screen where they give you those cool-looking 3D glasses where shit comes out at you, but I doubt most games even have 3D mode. Like Guild Wars, or its upcoming sequel, or Skyrim even for that matter.

ya I don't know I'm not sold on 3d at all yet so i'm not the best one to give you an answer. My vote is the DH72! I think you'll appreciate the SSD and RAM over the 3d screen

Probably. I doubt I'll even use the 3D-ness...I'd probably get tired of it and use it very rarely just to entertain myself every so often. Lmao.

I guess so. Not like I have a better choice LOL. Alienware is way too expensive and over-priced, especially for a timeline of two years. I can't find anything better. So I'll go with the DH72 and in two years I'll buy myself a real desktop for real gaming and use my DH72 for "old" gaming (so to speak) and gaming on the go. Hell, I might even be able to buy a desktop before then. All of these choices are made with all the feedback in this thread taken to consideration, of course.

Do you agree with me? o-o; Or is there something you'd change? I have until midnight tonight, pretty much, to make a decision, though the earlier, the better.

Neither have I. It's probably 3 sticks of 4GB, leaving one left. Depending on the type of RAM, I think I can potentially upgrade it to a maximum of 32GB (though I'll need to upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate), but I have no need in 32GB of RAM.

I've got 8GB in my laptop and I feel like that's already overkill. It's enough that I'm able to have my normal system running with iTunes, Chrome, a word processing program, all kinds of background stuff (Dropbox for example), and who knows what else, along with a second operating system in a VM with 3GB of memory dedicated to it, and not even have to use any swap space. Like, 8GB is already ridiculous.

Yeah. 8GB is nice if you play a lot of games and do other stuff and deal with rendering videos and whatnot. Anything more than that is probably not needed.

But anyway, this is what I am ending up with:

[Laptop] http://www.amazon.ca/ASUS-G74SX-DH72.../dp/B005PAJICG
[Chill Mat] http://www.amazon.ca/Targus-AWE57US-... 48150&sr=1-2

I think you're making a great choice. Top of the line specs without being ridiculously over priced
