Had to see it at 10:40 and you would think not many people would go to that since the movie is around 3hrs but that was sold out too!
Honestly i didnt see much of it between sleeping from boredom and vomiting from suckage.

Srsly though, I saw Sigourney Weaver was in it, and was like "Sigourney + aliens = serious ass stomping good movie". And it was the opposite. I haven't seen that much suck since Titanic. Coincidentally, also a Cameron movie.

I want the James Cameron that made Terminator, Terminator 2, and Aliens back.

I enjoyed the film, a lot. Visually stunning, story was good, etc.

The colonization narrative/misrepresentations of Indigenous persons will hopefully be used for my MA thesis next year.

Spoilers!

The scenes at the end with direct human/Na'Vi contact were amazing. You couldn't tell it was CGI. I didn't really love the movie but the effects were brilliant.

I saw the movie, and I was expecting something to really knock my socks off.

The visuals were great, but what really got me was the sheer scope and details. The 3-d effects were great and if felt like you were really there at certain times.

That being said!!! I personally found this movie average. The storyline was CLEARLY a ripoff/political/anti-corporation style of movie like everything else. At least a movie like the Matrix, which I personally found more monumental at the timem masked it's underpinnings well, but the plot/storyline seemed unoriginal and lazy to me. It was an old country western, but on another planet, and that much was obvious. Personally, I didn't find it enthralling at all.

The 3-d also made my girlfriend almost puke so she didn't even see part of the movie, and even I felt like garbage at certain parts. Not like I can't handle 3-d movies either, it was weird how it worked out, but we both are 3-d frequenters, and we've never had that issue. I even saw a kid heave next to a vending machine, and I saw a full grown man heave all over the toilet afterwards. It was really nice.

I will say that Avatar needs to be seen just because of the incredibly fine level of detail, and the sheer beauty of the landscape, but if you're looking for a great all-around movie with a great plot and great effects... this, to me at least, isn't it.

It seems like a lot of people who've seen it and loved it love it for one of 2 reasons, either they say "I liked it just cause it was awesome." Which is a silly argument if you're talking about a potential Oscar winner, or they are simply amazed by visuals, which makes the plot of the movie less important.

To me, the movie was average, the visuals were incredible, albeit possibly sickening, and the plot was not really that great. So I think it falls somewhere in between.

Sorry for the long-winded response, but it's what I thought! hahaha

I haven't seen this movie, and I don't plan to. I never from the beginning understood the craze that surrounded this movie. But from several reviews from somewhat reliable sources (friends & MI) then, there's nothing special about it. It's just another Transformers or 2012.

All effects, no substance.

The people that are saying the plot is bad are pretty ignorant imo, it has a classic and timeless story which covers a huge array of themes, it's sad the intricate and subtle plot got lost on some people and went right over their head.
