As others have said, you still have plenty of time to turn it around! Just aim for the best you can possible do for these exams. And regarding pulling up your marks, take summer school to get your average up so you don't get kicked out and you can get into a 2nd year program!. Definitely take Chem 1A03 and 1AA3, and maybe also repeat 1-2 of the courses you did poorly in to get your GPA up!

Point is, don't stress, and do your best on your exams, and take summer school to at least, get chem done!

Good luck!

I agree with Sara above but don't repeat a course you have already passed. It will be waste of time and money. I have repeated one course that I didn't need to, I sometimes regret it, instead take an easy elective. Such as micro/macro economics.

will do guys, I just re checked my term 1 marks and i HAVE one fail, one pass (p/f) and three 2s NOT 1s like I thought. So i have a great chance of even avoiding probation.

If you have three 2's and one fail, your term average was 1.5...so you have to do really well this term. You need at least a 3 to stay at Mac.

True, but if it's a 1 or 2, it may be a better idea repeating it to get into 2nd year programs; especially if it's a science course (first year bios or chems) and potentially getting a 12 in it to "average it out" to a 7

at this point i just want over a 3, and preferably over 3.5. I would not waste that second chance.

just curious (and interested actually)..what are the names of the courses that you took as pass/fail?

But hopefully you will do well, just believe in yourself! Sure it's difficult, but I'm positive everything is going to work out just fine if you try your best!

Only first year course I can think of (its open to all faculties) is HealthSci 1PA3... Its called intro to Biochem/Biomedical research and essentially profs from the dept or associated with the dept of Biochemistry come in and talk about their research, each talk is followed up with a discussion (so 2 "lectures" a week) and then 400 word journal articles about the topic.

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?
That's a course?! I should've taken it in first year. It's too late now that I'm actually in Biochem...

it was a new course for this year - remember how so many people accepted their offers of admission and there was that rez problem? they needed to make more classes too! i wish they at least let upper year students take it though.

justinsftw says thanks to yoni for this post.

That's not the reason they made this course--they've been planning it for a while.
