"If your CA is less than 3.0, you may not continue at the University"
Is the CA ( Cumulative Average) the average of your grades in term 1 First Year only?
Or
the average of your grades in term 1 + term 2 First Year?
Thank you for any help

Your CA would be over both terms.

Cumulative Average is your average over your entire University career (so yes, both terms)
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe sessional average is for the term you just completed.

For a first year your CA will only include your first two terms. Thus by the end of first year if your CA is less than a 3 you're given the boot.
However, your CA is your overall average of marks for all years...so it's sort of an awkward statement.

I can't see how you could end up with a 3.0 CA in any faculty in first year. You'd really have to slack off. There is no way they would let anyone in who just can't handle the work load enough to achieve more than 3.0 while trying.

Highschool is very different from University. Part of university is actually doing the work. i can see how people can get carried away having a good time...

Or the fact that their high schools don't prepare them for university. Because a lot don't.

Hi everyone,
I also have problem but it is somewhat different than having lower CA. I have completed my first year enginnering with a CA of 5.5 but with a failed course which I am going to take in summer school. The problem is my second year program as with this average I have got into my third choice which is software and I could not get into my first choice, Mechatronics, but the thing is that i know couple of people with a CA of 5.2 or 5.3, lower than me have got into mechatronics. So, please if you guys can tell me some solution about my problem would be really helpful. Thanks.

They might not just look at your CA, but your individual marks. For example, if you got really bad in your engineering courses, but two 12s in your econ electives, in order to balance out your CA, that wouldn't be as good as someone who bombed their electives and did a bit better than you in their engineering courses.
Just an idea.

You know, the first couple months here I met a lot of people and thought "How did they make it to university in the first place?".
It's sad, but high school is far too easy compared to university - depends on the school though I guess. It's not hard to get higher than 3.0 if you simply hand in all your assignments, even if they're sh*t.

I actually handed assignments and got decent grades on most of them. However, I have an issue when it comes to the exams. I end up panicking while writing exams and as a result, I blank out. It's been happening for a very long time, ever since high school. So I always end up doing great on the term work but when it comes down to exams, I screw up even though I study.

Maybe you should look into things that can help you calm down. Things that you can do while sitting down. Perhaps meditating? I also find that when I panic I would blank out, but I only panic when I know I didn't practice as hard as I could have. So I guess try to find out why you panic and then attempt to prevent it.

I pray before exams.
It makes me angry when people come up to me and just start talking.
Partly cause I'm praying.
partly because I'm trying to relax.
Partly because I don't want to hear "IS THIS THE FoRMULA?"
especially 95% students. I wanna clock em.
