Take a look at this, it's a bit bigger but it'll save you $150 and matches what you're looking for spec-wise http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product... E16834220834

Rule #1: Don't buy a Mac.

You could try looking on NewEgg

For christmas, I bought a msi GX740 from there (~$1,500). It runs all current gen games at highest/almost highest settings.

I was gonna buy an ASUS (can't remember the specific model), but I read a lot of reviews saying that I would have to put up with driver issues, so I got the msi instead. Make sure to look at reviews!

EDIT: Ooo, the ones that TailSnake posted seem pretty nice

Meh.
This is going to end up being a MAC vs. PC.

You're assuming the PC user will defragment, and utilize maintenance applications.
Clearly his laptop is slowing as stated by the OP. So, by making that assumption that people with "gaming" laptops will maintain their computers is not entirely correct.

Mid-level PC's will be outdated in the next year or two. Mac's are way more versatile, and cannot be slowed down by virus's.

Congratulations about you GF's netbook. I wouldn't want to play games on that.

To each their own. If you prefer PC's go with PC's. Mac's with Mac's. There's no convincing between the two.

MacBooks cost a lot more if you want decent specs. E.g. for a $1,500 MacBook Pro you'd only get an Intel Core 2 Duo, 13 inch screen, 320 GB harddrive, GeForce 320M graphics. Compare that to the other $1,500 laptops posted on this thread. The only thing it has going for it is the battery life and the virus thing.

I guess it all depends what you'll use it for; but for a gaming laptop I'm pretty sure Mac is not the way to go unless you want to pay ~$400 - $1,000 extra

I don't necessarily prefer PCs, Macs have their place and I've recommended them to a lot of people before (They really are the better option for most people if they can afford them). Macs just kinda suck as gaming computers...

Obviously, all their new products are nothing like the old ones. They are brand new and revolutionary.

Very ignorant of you... everything computer can be slowed down and brought to a stand still with the aid of a good virus...
It's more the fact the people don't want to spend the time to write a virus that will not be affecting as many households as possible...
What is the point writing a virus that only affects ~3-5 % of the computer market when you have that other 90+% out there?

I'm willing to spend anywhere from $1000-1500 dollars on it. Does anyone have any recommendations for a laptop fitting those specs?
Alienware!!!

Nah just kidding. Those are overly expensive.

What type of games will you be playing? Farmville obviously won't be as intensive as erhm Farmville II.

Oh and check out RedFlagDeals. The people sometime post great gaming laptop for low price.

I bought my macbook pro during the summer of grade 10 (the 2007 model), and since then, there must have been about 3-4 new models. I still use my 2007 model, which is 2.5 years old at the moment.

So no, I don't "drop w/e I have as soon as a new model comes out."

Then you're like the one Apple user who's poor.

HAHA. That's funny. Sometimes true though sadly... Apple has such good marketing department.

Problem solved. Laptop, that is portable, great battery life, and you can game your heart out (hook up to HD monitor and set up a docking station if you want a desktop-like experience).

But if you live on campus or close to campus do this

1. Sell current laptop
2. Buy gaming desktop + netbook for the price of a MacBook
3. There is no three
