You can't do anything to the walls. In fact, the only way to hang things up is to use "stickies" that are provided to you when you get into Residence for the first time.

Elevators seems to be always down during my stay at the CLAY conference this year. The housing staff at the time said if it becomes overloaded, the elevator shuts down and has to wait to be reactivated by the elevator company. Also if ppl start jumping it will also shut down, so it seems to be extremely sensitive. So hopefully it is fixed for the fall.
