Did you take 1A03 and 1B03 b/c yeah if you take those you just get to use the public labs not the locked one b/c you only need like Photoshop and Dreamweaver for those. Once you get into the program OR are in a course that requires access to the programs in there you are allowed in. You have to pay for like this magnetic key thingy.
Yeah it has lots of computers with all kinds of programs we use in the various Multimedia courses.

If you're not in the program you don't need to use the software in that lab to complete your project. Also students in the program pay tuition too, its not as if we get into McMaster for free

Really? I thought all third year multimedia students didn't have to pay tuition!

and get to use stuff other faculties payed for. Finally we actually have to pay for a key to have access to the lab. The comment was rude an uncalled for and didn't even make their point properly b/c signs and software used in specific programs are completely different.
|
If I'm not in the program I don't need to use them to complete my project? Okay, fine. What if I just want to use them to learn how? As I'm sure you know, a lot of media software is ridiculously expensive; some of it I'm just too lazy to try and hack, so it's easier for me to use a fully licensed version on campus.
Why come I no get play?
Quote:
As for computers with software for the Engineering programs I have no idea if I'm allowed to use them or not because I'm not in Engineering and therefore don't need that software to complete my school work.
|
You can use all of the software available to Engineers; there are multiple labs in JHE which anyone can use. But please don't. Because I paid tuition for them :( and you didnt :(

JHE's 2nd floor right in between the big staircases has a nice big lab if you ever need it, though occasionally classes are in there.
There are a few restricted labs too (need card-keys to get in) such as the mech lab right next to it, 219. They have nicer computers

Yeah but even with those, the majority of the software can be found in the public labs with slower computers

Oh I see, so we're not the only faculty with a restricted labs and Engineering has multiple, good to know.
Get real madquarker. I pay tuition to do the major I selected and so did you.
The University isn't responsible to provide you with access to software for any discipline under the the sun that you may want to dabble in.

They're like candy and chocolate for the eyes.
I could look at that for ages; it's really phenomenal.
I spent over 30 minutes today searching for a really high resolution picture of a wolf and couldn't find anything that met my requirements, but if I had something like that ...that would be amazing.

Now that Homecoming is over, if there is anyone that would like to help us recycle the metal part of the Homecoming signs, they can be dropped off at the Joan Buddle Service Desk in the DBAC.
you can keep the Homecoming sign
thanks for your help
