I'm definitely gonna try that this week, hopefully it works! =/

I find that strategy only works after your contract ends since the they know your not gonna pay the $200-400 penalty for early exit.

My brother was able to get free perks. He did have to try twice, but in the end he got what he wanted.

Maybe he's with a nicer service provider. I tried that with rogers 2 times last year and each time they reminded me that I had to pay the $250 fine if i wanted to leave them for whatever reason.

Ya with contracts its a little harder especially if you have a long ways to go. Much easier if your contract is about to end or your on a no contract service like Koodo.

He's with rogers... But maybe rogers tightened up their act? He did get that deal like 3 years ago.

I've actually heard Rogers was easy to get deals off of. Quite honestly regardless of the company it may differ slightly but the big difference is the individual representative you get. If they are nice they are nice. If not, call again?

I have a Rogers BlackBerry with:
150 local anytime minutes
unlimited evenings and weekends
unlimited text messaging (including picture/video messaging)
100 Canadian long distance minutes
Unlimited email
Unlimited instant messaging
My5 Local

$78/mo

My BlackBerry also has WiFi, so I can use the internet for free when I'm in a hotspot. Otherwise, I didn't need/want a data plan (other than email), since I don't really need it.

Having a Hamilton number for me was essential, since I've been living here 12 months per year since my 2nd year at Mac.

Will a Nokia 5000 which works in Europe and Asia, also work in Canada?

Will it work on a Canadian SIM card?

If the phone isn't locked to a particular network and it uses a SIM card it will definitely work. I have a Nokia N81 phone I got in the Philippines (unlocked) and it works with my Rogers SIM. You can also have it unlocked if the phone is locked to a certain network.

It's not locked to any network but I've been googling and some results say Nokia 5000 doesn't work in Canada if it's from Europe because of a dual/tri band something?

Yeah that's right. The Nokia 5000 from Europe is a dual band and won't work in Canada. The only way a European phone will work in Canada is if it's a tri band.

Are you 100% sure it won't work?

That's interesting... so is the BlackBerry Tour a first in the industry? Apparently it works in over 120 countries or something like that...

Man I love BlackBerry.... so awesome....
