In engineering on faculty day we had to sit around and listen to that Buffalo Springfield literally 20 times on loud speaker (seriously... no exaggeration). I mean, it was funny maybe like the first 2 or 3 times, but it got lame pretty quick. I don't think I can listen to that ever again :p

That Rick Roll they did when we were on the football field was also pretty fail. Way to completely kill an otherwise semi-decent meme...

Aside from all that though, I would say it was a worth while experience. Definitely something you don't want to miss :p
Yeah, there was a lot of waiting around before because each residence had to go in separately. Cheering battles are pretty fun though ^-^

Your Welcome Week can also depend on your residence/faculty. The residence wide events are all the same but the things you do with your residence separately can be different. All the faculties plan different events too so one faculty may plan a better event than another. I know certain faculties complained about their events in my year but I thought my faculties events were great. I guess it depends what you're into.

Faculty wars outside of Welcome Week are lame. It's fun on WW to infuse faculty pride into incoming first years so they love their faculty and what they'll be doing for the next 3-4 years. Outside of WW though it's lame to have a holier than thou attitude and diss other faculties.

As you said though agree to disagree b/c you obviously think my opinion in skewed b/c you incorrectly assumed I was a WW rep.

Sorry, that was mostly a misunderstanding. I was curious to see out of the # of people with positive opinions of WW and whether or not they were reps. My entire floor was kind of apathetic to the whole thing.

I agree. One of my exes and I were walking around campus and he saw a whole bunch of 1st year humanities students and started doing cheers to insult the kids. Needless to say, the relationship ended quickly.=p

I'm not a rep either by the way ^-^

But you are right in assuming that. Because most people that love WW go on to become reps.

My welcome week was in 2005 and I still keep in touch with many people I met during both my faculty welcome week and residence welcome week even though they may not have been in my specialization or in anything else later on. I also still have all of my swag.

I also was a rep and planner and have seen how the budget is broken down and really, for what you're paying, you're getting a great deal. For Science last year, we were able to order a helluva lot of useful swag simply because of how much we were ordering and all for a cheap price! And it's a lot of good keepsake stuff too! And the science shirts are super nice this year ;p

All those things that you can get into for 'free' wouldn't happen if it weren't for macpass funding.

As a funny aside, I actually just rediscovered my un-opened ww 2005 swag from the sidewalk sale - rediscovered swag is just as exciting!!! except all the coupons were out of date. hahaha

I'm REALLY looking forward to all the swag But who isn't?
Any previews on those science shirts, Tamara? lol.
And on that note....are the faculty shirts general/broad-based or are they divided down into the separate divisions in the faculty itself (For example, Earth & Environmental Science gets its own shirts or whatever). Just curious. ^^

I'm pretty sure the shirts are generally broad.

I remember seeing engineering, commerce, science, social science, and humanities shirts.

They are just faculty shirts, no department or anything lower.

I also remember the coupons XD

: ) If you're interested in having a shirt with your specific program, try contacting the earth & enviro sci club (not sure if it exists). The Biology Society has shirts for - Biodiversity, life sci, and physiology.

Note, i'm not actually on the bio society.

temara.brown says thanks to Lois for this post.
