My biggest objection with this movement is that they support military intervention. If he has kids as his army and bodyguards, wouldn't you need to kill kids to get to him? Not to mention that the Uganda army doesn't have a good reputation with its neighboring countries, so they can't just go in a expedition through the woods without causing trouble with the locals.

its definately a good starting point for discussion, obviously things like this are way more complicated than a 29 minute video about 1 guy but if it can get people talking beyond just kony then it does serve a good purpose.

Shouldn't we be trying to make Kony infamous, not famous?

I love this whole movement. It's probably a psych prof's field day to analyze data from stuff like this.

First there is overwhelming support, then once everyone bandwagons, smaller hipster factions branch off to attack the organization then the same bandwagoners become turncoats to attack the organization.

Guess what? I'm aware IC may only give anywhere from 26-81% (THATS RIGHT, I HEARD NUMBERS FROM THAT DISPARITY OF RANGE, there is as much hearsay for the organization as there is against it) to the actual cause.

And/or i'm aware they may be spending money on lobbying. And/or i'm aware they may be "giving money to the Ugandan military" (because you know, everyone knows they have a big briefcase full of money they hand to a couple big tank black guys with machetes, because that's how charities roll, right?)

With that said, I still donated $30. And i still support this movement. People are complaining the CEO's/heads of the charity makes 80 grand a year... really? Come the **** on. If they were making 300 grand a year, then we may have a problem, but really 80k isn't that superfluous, i don't see it being that bad >_>

You do realize whenever the spotlight is on ANYTHING, no matter what - dirt can and will be dug up. No large charity donates 100% of their money to the cause, it's just not viable.

Now don't get me wrong, i'm well aware this is quite flavour of the monthy, and this'll die down by next week, but why is this a bad thing? The average teenager now knows of a ongoing problem that they may not have known before. The average teenager now knows of a success story where an organization lobbied the government to send a hundred military advisors to africa.

It's education, i fail to see how this is a bad thing.

So to the people against this "movement", instead of posting why IC is wrong, why not post why a different organization is better?
