The link I posted explains it very well, which is why I didn't say anything. Thought it would be a good read.
But I do agree with you, that this is definitely bringing awareness to a problem not a lot of people knew about before. I just think Invisible Children aren't saying all the facts and a lot of people don't check the facts & just believe anything, that's all.
Also, can the mods merge the two threads about this? lol
I can only speak for myself when I say this. But here is what I think.
Raising awareness: good
Capturing Kony: good
Methods that involve military intervention: there is a good chance they'll cause more harm than good
You're right, military intervention generally is... terrible. But what do you recommend? Non-external military tactics have been used for the past 20something years without much luck.
I'm as libbylib as it gets, but the truth is one can't make sweeping generalizations that equate all military forces being evil. Armies bring stability. Especially in a war torn country where its radical christian rebels vs corrupt military governments. Both of which make the american army look like saints.

That's just my opinion on this issue *shrug*
How can you objectively say that the american military is any better than the Uganda military?
You can't ignore all the atrocities committed by the americans around the world; they certainly are not saints in comparison.

war goes against humanity, ALWAYS.
1)woman are always raped. (sometimes with guns,bottles,knives.. ..)
2)kids always loose oppurtunities at a normal life.
3)there are always civilian casualties.
4)soldiers get ptsd.
It's actually disgusting the way america glamourizes it............and glosses over what war really is.

It's actually disgusting how humans still support wars and fighting even after so many years of mental evolution.

*sigh*. It sounds great. Power to the people. Sounds awesome. No fear, no power, no war. Right?
Unfortunately, there is one thing thats still there. We rely on their suffering. (sounds harsh? sounds fake? sound uneducated? right?)
There is something called a war economy. (or better yet, us PROVOKING a PERMANENT War economy); aka War business, War trade. We may not know where our commodities are going, what our defense services are pertaining or bringing in aid for or even what purpose they stand for. But as long as there's war, there's investment by government to bring profit via fear and hate. (It costs us a lot, but without it, we feel obliged to do nothing, no profit, no inspiration, nothing as a government).
If tomorrow there is no war economy, then we, the people, have to put up with that. THAT is the one thing our world of people will will never do. We won't sacrifice from our lifestyle for others. As the famous quote goes (better them then us).
With that being said, i hope that i am wrong. I hope we learn from history and our mistakes. But as another saying goes (hope for the best, plan for the worst)
annonymous? at least if you're going to be critical of something and want to sound legitimate post your name to it- thats just as bad as someone following IC - at least you can find out everything about them before you support it
