Just want to know how many courses students cancel on average.

I've been canceling courses regularly, since I deem it better than getting a 0. I know it's not good, but I don't know how bad it is either since I don't have a metric.

The only courses I wanted to cancel were required for my degree, and cancelling one would have delayed my graduation by a year.

If I drop, let's say, 2 courses in 1 term during my last year, will it raise a whole bunch questions when I try to get a job?

None. Even though I have courses that I should have cancelled in the middle of every semester I spent at Mac. I chose not to do so because that will feel like I have given up on them which is something I never do.

I am in second year and I have so far cancelled 2 courses, In first year I cancelled 1 course, I did 4 courses in summer 1st year so i cancelled one there. I think it depends on where you want to go, if you have a lot that would be alarming for grad considerations.

I think I am a habitual canceler as the criteria I use to cancel is any course where I will not get at least a 10 in.

You see, here is the danger with that. People looking at your transcript will quickly come to the realization that you have a 10 average BECAUSE you cancelled a bunch of courses. This will be especially true if what is cancelled are the tougher courses on your transcript.

Also you've likely heard the expression that when the going gets tough, the tough gets going. What you are demonstrating by cancelling a bunch of courses is that when the going gets tough, you get going. And let me tell you, in grad school (MA/MSc/PhD) things can get very tough at times.

The attitude expressed by akikokoyoki is the admirable one and faculty members would be more open to a student like this, as long as they have the necessary average to get in to grad school.

Well, are you talking about courses that you would finish with a mark of 1? Because if you are talking about a course where you are getting like a 7, which is much lower than your average 11, then I don't think it's the same thing as getting a 0 when your average is like 7.

Just one; Comp. Sci. 4TB3 : Compilers. The first assignment for that course was literally more work than the other 6 courses I had at the time. I saw that the second assignment was even longer than that and noped right on out of there.

Delayed graduation for a year, but it was worth it.

I cancelled 3 in my first and second year. 2 of them was to pick better electives. The last one was because of workload, and i took it in the summer since it was offered. I don't think grad schools/employers care too much, there are a hell of a lot of other factors they'll look to penalize you for.

I'm talking about courses that I would end up failing or getting a mark of 1-3 if I continued on with it. I continued on with those courses but that resulted to have my CA lowered. But I still had a high enough CA to continue on with graduation.

One in first year, made up for it by overloading for a semester in second year.
