Masters in econ help
Hi everyone,

I'm in third year Honours Commerce and I will have a minor in econ by the end of this term. I was wondering if it is possible to do an MA in econ when I graduate with my bcomm?

Any help would be appreciated!

"Canadian students are expected to have an honours BA in Economics, including the advanced microeconomics and macroeconomics courses (that is, one course in each beyond the full-year intermediate courses) and some econometrics. The university requires students to have maintained a B+ average in economics courses during the final two years of their undergraduate programs, but in practice, students with less than an A- average are seldom admitted.

Students with lesser qualifications in economics but very strong backgrounds in mathematics or statistics are occasionally admitted, but such exceptions are rare."

Other schools may have different requirements.
U of T for example:

"Applicants must have completed, or must be in the final year of an appropriate four-year bachelor's degree program or its equivalent with at least a mid-B (75%) standing in the final year of that program. Applicants educated in a country other than Canada should check the equivalent qualifications table before starting the online application.
Applicants must have a strong preparation in economics, including the following university-level courses.

Two semesters of introductory economics (micro and macro)
Two semesters of intermediate economics (micro and macro)
Two semesters of calculus
Two semesters of intermediate statistics."

it is possible but you have to take advanced courses in macro and micro theory and econometrics. In other 4th year econ courses. These mean you have to have a strong quanititative background and know matrix algebra among other things. These courses are very difficult. A minor in econ without these courses and other math courses will not suffice
