Content-wise, LT3 is easier than AA3. This past year, I heard from people in AA3 that the averages for their tests were so low that there were significant bumps to make them a little higher. I also heard that the AA3 exam was much easier than the tests, but I think LT3 would cause you less stress in the long term because the concepts are easier to grasp. By the way, the course description for LT3 is not exactly accurate... we learned about probability and statistics, and not sequences and series, which is a big part of AA3.
I also took A03 instead of LS3, and took LT3 second term, and still managed fine even without the continuation from LS3. The tests for LT3 were easy and straightforward, and part of the exam was practically identical to an unmarked assignment we had. That brings me to the downside of LT3 - that there were no marked assignments - online or on paper. This made the tests 30/30 each and the exam 40, but there was some flexibility, ie. do well on your exam and have that worth 90%. The prof for LT3 is also very approachable, gives super generous hints for tests, and goes at a slow pace, so absorbing the content isn't difficult at all.
I suggest LT3 over AA3 if you just need a second math to fulfill a prerequisite.
