Missed Exam Procedure
Okay so I've seen a lot of posts about missed exams and a lot of them say different things. Some say to go to the prof, others to the associate dean; some to have a doctors note, some say it doesn't matter "the first time..."
So my question is:
If I miss an exam do I go to the Associate Dean's Office of my science faculty? :/ Even if it's like psych or math or such?
If I wasn't sick but like just completely misread the timings what do I say to them (similar to the people that slept through theirs, I suppose)? :/
Finally, they contact us in a week, what do they take into consideration in order to determine if I can defer it... My marks in the course, if I've used a msaf...?
And is it unlikely for them to allow the deferral? :(

You go to your associate dean's office. So if you're registered in science but you missed a humanities exam, you still go to the associate dean of science office.
There is a form that you need to fill out.
This form will ask for a reason, and that's when you put that you misread the time.
They say a deferral is never guaranteed no matter what the reason, but I've never heard of one being denied. I think they only start to get suspicious if you have deferred exams in the past, or if you have a high MSAF use rate. If you used an MSAF once or twice then you're probably fine. I have no idea if they take grades into account, but I do know some people who have gotten exams deferred in courses they were getting 60's in.
They do give a free pass the first time you miss an exam because of your own screw-up (slept in, hit traffic, missed the bus, misread the date/time, etc).

Oh, I did have another question, do they not allow us into exams 30 minutes after they've started? :|

Yeah it's almost always 30 minutes. No one can leave in the first 30 minutes, and then after that, no one is allowed to start. It's to prevent someone from leaving and telling someone else the questions before they come in to write it, as well as to prevent distractions.

Don't worry too much about it, they are gonna let you write it again it's your first (and hopefully your last time)...just know what went wrong and work on it. The reason for missing an exam is not important, what's important is to realize what went wrong so it doesn't happen again in the future.
If you missed your exam because you misread the time, make sure you print out your examination schedule a week before the exams start and put it somewhere where you can always see it. Also, it's a good habit to wait for the exam with your friends, that way you don't have to worry about missing an exam or going to the wrong location and losing time. I started doing that after missing my exam in first year.
Because i commute, i always try to be in school an hour or 2 before my exam starts; i just sit around with my friends and we go together to the exam. Ever since, i never had to worry about missing any exam
