Moving In
I figured I'm not the only person out there with a question about moving in to residence, so i started a thread for it!

My question is, online it says I move in on August 30th from 8am to 12pm (Bates 3rd floor) and I was wondering how strict that time frame is? because I dont live in Hamilton, and all we have is a car to bring my stuff in, so we were thinking that we will probably need to make atleast 2 trips, which will mean that I will probably not be finished by noon, even if we started right at 8. So is it a really big deal if we finished at like 1pm? thanks!

Hi katie_batt,

I believe that 8 am - 12 pm is just the time period when you have to pick up your keys. So as long as you pick them up before 12 pm, then you can leave and return to your res whenever and as many times as you like.

Hope that helps!

Also I think that the Reps might not be there after that time so you might not get help moving your stuff up. I THINK!

The reps will be there moving in the whole building all day. We stagger it with big buildings that way there's not a huge line up of parents waiting to get their kids stuff unloaded. Even though 3rd floor may technically be done by 12 noon there will still be other floors moving in and therefore reps!

Katie it shouldn't be a problem if you're not completely done I'm sure the reps will still help you, although you might want to notify your CA's when you get there with your first round that way they can inform the reps.

Yeah, it shouldn't be a big problem - as was already mentioned, they assign alternating floors to either the morning or the afternoon just to stagger the crowds throughout the day a little more. So long as you arrive within the time your entire building's move-in is scheduled to happen, there will be reps there to help you unload. The reps are very accomodating, but in theory it may take a little longer to get your stuff to your room - the reps usually sort luggage by the floor it's going to in order to consolidate elevator trips, so if it's for a floor they're not expecting at a particular time, it may get sidelined for a bit (this type of thing varies greatly by building, though). It'll always get there, though - generally, the reps bend over backwards to make sure everyone has a great move-in experience.
