MSU SURVEY: Laptops or study space?
Hi everyone!
The University Library and the MSU work together closely to do whatever we can to meet your needs as students. We know that we need to provide additional seating, particularly quiet study.
Since the funding is limited we want to ask you: would you prefer to see the library invest in the laptop loan program or would you prefer to see the library invest in additional seating?
If the survey results indicate that students want to continue the laptop loan program the Library will continue the program but will be investing in a self-service check out system for laptops. If, however, the results indicate a desire for more seating, the laptop loan program will be canceled and additional study carrels purchased for student use.
Fill out the survey now.

I think there's always a place to study on campus, but people just don't seem to know where to look.
Definitely voting for the laptop program: I'm in the (admittedly) minority of people who doesn't have a laptop and the library/computer labs are unreliable. Plus, portability is good.
Can we somehow trade Thode's laptops with Mills' though? A lot of us don't like using Macs and the Mills audience seems like the Macbook type.

In Mills. =\
Again, Thode group wants some i5, Windows-7-running laptops too.
Plus, the message I got was Mary clearly stated that if study space wins, they're phasing out the laptop loan program entirely.

I'm with Cheri on this one. I don't see why it has to be one or the other. Why is it impossible to continue the laptop loan program as is, and still add some seating area?

They're planning on paying the carrel-building elves with used laptops instead of with money. Thus the end of the laptop program

Yea, they already updated the laptops in Mills... last year? The only thing it costs them to my knowledge is paying the person that hands them out (but they work there anyways, so...)

Definitely study space. But I also don't see why the laptop loaning program can't continue.. Aren't the laptops already here, why wouldn't the program continue in this case?

They did not mentioned this in the voting.
Seems to gone viral from "the message I got was"... So a misinterpretation perhaps?

What's the point of borrowing a laptop if there's no where to sit and use it
