yes the system sucks. it would be much easier if they let you choose your courses and time slots like other schools and for some reason courses fill up so quickly, even required courses.

FYI: "Retarded" comes from the French word "Retarder" or in English "To be slowed down" or "To be Late".

Yep. The use of the word in English was for similar descriptive ends. The 'slang' use of the word 'retarded' may itself derive from "mentally / developmentally retarded", but this hardly means that the use of it in any context directly relates to its immediate origin - in fact, it relates far more to its 'original' origin (yeah, I shouldn't have used the word 'origin'...originally , haha) than its immediate one.
Change in language happens, and I don't see the point in fussing about the use of certain words (eg. 'retarded' - while it may not be a perfect description of the situation, it's as good, if not better, than words like 'stupid' etc. for that purpose). Tracing the meanings of words back shouldn't be a method of setting out which 'ought to be' used and which 'ought not to be' used.
