Need help with OSAP
So, here's the deal. I completed my OSAP application way back in late May. I've sent in my supplementary documentation in June, and the Financial Aid office received it. However, on my OSAP application, I made a small typo in inputting my driver's license. They notified me of this on June 12th, and I sent a letter with a photocopy of my driver's license around June 20th.

Now, it's been 3 weeks, and my status has still been unchanged (Confirmation of driver's license needed). I have no clue if my letter arrived or not (could have gotten lost). And I'm quite worried as July 15th is the deadline that Mac accepts OSAP as a payment option and July 17th is the deadline for QEII. Can anyone offer any advice?

Have you contacted financial aid? I believe they are the ones who can correct your application. I know they can cancel it so they might be able to alter it.

May I ask, who did you send your photocopied driver's license to?

Yes, I tried to contact them via email earlier in June. They told me that all changes HAS to be made through mail (which is kind of stupid in my opinion). I contacted them earlier this week to see if they received my letter yet.

I sent it to the address they told me:
McMaster University
Office of Student Financial Aid & Scholarships
Gilmour Hall, Room 120
1280 Main Street West

Yeah, that looks good. Did they say they received your letter yet? They should have by now...

I emailed them yesterday, but they take five business days to respond. :(
I really don't want to go to Hamilton for this, but if I have to...

Have you tried calling them?

(905) 525-9140 ext. 24319

Calling will most likely be faster, although it's the weekend now so you'll have to wait until Monday.

Last time I called I got my questions answered really quickly, although it was just questions about the OSAP application. So yours might take more time. But hopefully they'll be quick to answer.

Call up 905 525 9140 and the extension you're looking for is 24319.
When you call up the receptionist, describe your concern to her.
You'll need your SIN and Student Number handy and she should be able to tell you the exact status of your application.
They also datemark their forms when they receive them, so if your form was held up in the mail and arrived late, OR didn't arrive at all, she should be able to let you know.

I'll try calling them! Thanks for the advice! But I hope they aren't inflexible, and tell me that you have to make changes through the mail, blah blah blah.

Thanks Bushra! It's a relief to know they datemark their forms. Whew. Hopefully, it arrived though. Heh.

Yepp, after yoru application is sent via the OSAP website, anything related to it, you have to contact the financial aid office at your post-sec. So contact the Financial aid office asap
Here's their contact info -> http://sfas.mcmaster.ca/office.html

I'd really like a "Dislike; Types Too Fast" button.

I think with the tight schedule, the deadline being July 15th-ish, they will have to contact you soon. And phone would the quickest way to find out your status

No they're quite good, just call early. I find my calls are rushed during the day and after lunch, and I have less time to explain properly but that shouldn't be the case if you call around opening time.

They're much faster than email and can provide you with more information, so calling is always your best bet.

Plus, while they say 5 business days, they also attach a message that states they might not be able to get to you within that time period, so you could be waiting over a week and a half for a response if you email after they close up on a Friday.
