Ya. The vintage bottles are 2.25 but taste so much BETTER than the plastic ones which are a 1.60 i think. Cans were 1.27 when I bought them the other day for 2 cans.

Yeah, they moved them from the corner fridge to the middle-ish fridge. They actually moved all their drinks around...

This won't do anything since they've already signed an exclusivity contract with Pepsi.

that's a lot easier said than done, it's not very feasible to walk all the way across campus for a drink...
and ... of course people are going to ***** about pepsi vs coke...everyone has their preference, just like the people who like pepsi are happy about it
the logical thing to do would be to give the students choice... having an exclusive contract is in no way beneficial to the students and what their preferences are.
but go figure... its Mac

signing an exclusive deal probably did make some sort of financial sense for Mac. I don't know, but I'd figure if we commit to only Pepsi products, we'll get better prices. We lose variety but get cheaper drinks. Not saying I support it, but there must have been some sort of reason to sign a deal like that.

I don't know the financial situation, or the reasons why Mac would sign an exclusive deal.
But I'm so happy to see Pepsi on campus. I know a lot of people say they taste the same, but I drink enough Diet Pepsi to know they don't.
Either way, I usually bring my own because it's much cheaper. But I like having the option to buy it on campus if I need to.

It's the opposite (unless McMaster forces Pepsi to sell at a cheaper price). Since there is no competition, Pepsi doesn't have to sell at lower prices in fact they would sell at high prices. If Coke and Pepsi were on campus then they would have to lower their prices.

I know its like a 10 min walk from the student center, but if you go to the coffee bar on the main floor of the hospital (go up the yellow stairs, you can't miss it), they have vitamin water. Plus bagels that are 1000x better than the ones on campus. Their caf food is also way better and WAY WAY cheaper. Go check out the hospital!

But Coke and Pepsi have to compete to get the contract, and McMaster will pick the one that makes most fiscal sense to them. Possibly because they get the products for cheaper, so McMaster can make more money on them (which was part of the agreement with Coke for the MSU, iirc) or through direct cash/equipment. So even though there would be no competition for individual consumers, they need to compete for McMaster itself.
Of course, that's all just theory. In reality, it probably looked a lot more like politics, with whoever was making the decision getting bribed with some nice lunches and sports tickets.

I think the point the OP is trying to make is that students voted against "an exclusive contract with Coke". But Mac turned around and signed an exclusive contract with Pepsi, even though it was obvious that the students didn't want an exclusive contract with anyone.
Is that right? If so, that's pretty misleading/sneaky on Mac's part..

Well, yeah, pretty much. But as was pointed out earlier, the students voted on what the MSU was going to do, not what McMaster was going to do. Not exactly sneaky, McMaster and Hospitality Services were never actually affiliated with the referendum.
