Optometry in the US
Hello everyone,
The previous threads about OD are about Waterloo. So I was wondering if I want to go to a OD program in the US, is this option worth considering? The course requirements are about the same as the ones for Waterloo I assume?
(Will I still have to take SAT?)
On a unrelated note, as a first year, the 6 unit electives are not optional?

Never assume that the course requirements will be the same. I doubt you can even generalize to "OD programs in the US". You need to look at the specific schools you're interested in to see those requirements.
I don't understand what you're asking about 6 unit electives being optional.

You don't have to take them in first year but you'll have to make up the units some other time (during the summer or by overloading in subsequent years).

My sis wishes to pursue optometry too. Waterloo is the only optometry school (not sure outside Ontario). There are def more schools for it in the US but it will be harder since as always you will be applying as international student. Thus cost and grade requirements will be much much higher.
In general though I think the US medical related schools are better. The programs seem to be more specialized and geared to the field.

Try messaging Jeremy (profile: http://www.macinsiders.com/member.php?u=2962), he's a mod on here and is going to Salus (in PA, USA) for optometry right now.
