My mum's neighbour actually fell for this, went to the store and bought a prepaid credit card and then CALLED THEM BACK to pay for the service. They completely toasted her hard drive to the point that when I tried to format the drive the virus blew the motherboard and the computer wouldn't even turn on. I found her a replacement computer and made her swear she wouldn't do anything that ridiculous again. Then her boyfriend removed Chrome, Avast and everything else I had installed and gave her IE and some knockoff 'antivirus' that filled her computer with adware. I give up.
