PRESTO Card Question
Hey guys, the teller at the presto booth in Yorkdale mall told me to get specific papers from the university to prove that Iam a student and then deposit those papers to Union station.
Would anyone know where I could get these papers from in University and what exactly are these papers?
Thanks guys!

I just had to give my student card. Thats enough to prove you're a student. Don't know why they aren't accepting that. I guess you can go to the registrars office in Gilmour Hall and they can give you something.

Yeah, I just had to show my student card. You can try going to a different GO station (e.g. Hamilton GO Centre downtown, etc.) to get the student account, because I don't see why they would need additional papers...

You have to go to Compass and get your GO STUDENT CARD.
Take your GO STUDENT CARD with your Presto card to any Go/Presto booth for them to apply your Presto student discount

That is to get your GO Student id, which you do not need. Just go to another teller and show them your McMaster student card. There are some tellers that are a little strict about that stuff.

Ya you don't need the "GO STUDENT CARD", whatever that is. I just got mine from the Burlington GO station, and all they needed was my MAC Student ID card! Give it another go at another station. Goodluck!

I went to the Hamilton Go Centre, handed the teller my Presto card and student id and he switched my account to student. Super simple!

yep all you need is the mac ID, thats it. The teller was just being dickish or didn't know our ID's were enough.
agree with alyssarr, presto rules!

Yeah I did mine at Square One. All they did was ask me for my student ID.

hey im still a bit unsure about how presto works so can you guys clarify something for me.
why do you need to prove that you are a student? is there some sort of discount for university* students when using the presto card?
(online they only calssify students as 13-19, no highschool)
also i know when we bought 10 go tickets we got a discount as compared to buying 10 single ride tickets. does that still work or will it be the same?

If you register as a student, then each ride you pay for using PRESTO will be equivalent in price as 1 ride on a 10-ride student ticket. So essentially you get the same discount as a 10 ride ticket without having to pay for all 10 rides in advance.
The student discount is 15% off the adult ticket price when using PRESTO, while the adult discount is 7.5% off when using PRESTO

and just in case you haven't heard there's no more 10-ride tickets. all you have now is pretty much PRESTO, monthly pass, or be an ass and buy tickets at the driver (every day. super annoying)
