Question about getting a job on campus...
I was hoping to get a job on campus this year coming up, ideally as a lifeguard at the pool or in the athletic centre or something along those lines. I'm just not 100% sure how to go about this. I won't qualify for OSAP so I don't think I can apply to the Work Study program. Is this something I can just go in and apply for when school starts? Or am I kinda outta luck since I can't qualify for the program. Any answers would be great

Athletic and Rec doesn't really hire through the Work Program, so you're in luck. They just re-did their website, and I'm pretty sure this is the right link for job opportunities:

I think it's a bit late to be applying for jobs (especially athrec since I work there and they usually hire before the end of second semester the previous year). I'm not sure about other places on campus like I'm sure there are places still hiring but if you're looking for a job your best bet would be to start super early next year. But good luck with the job hunting now and yeah MSU does have jobs I believe and if you can get onto OSCAR most jobs there require work study but there may be a few that are willing to hire people without work study.

Jobs on OSCAR for the school year should be posted on August 1st so check them out some time next week! As mentioned already, most of them are Work-Study ones so you have to get approved for them beforehand.

Okay thanks! I'll probably just apply to a few through MSU and see if anything works out, I don't really need to have a job during the year but I thought I'd try to make a few extra bucks since I'll be at the school all the time anywayy.

AVTEK is hiring a ton of people for welcome week for the position of stagehand.. as long as you're not a total moron you can make a decent sum during welcome week! See the MSU job postings link provided by ghumanm. No experience explicitly required or need to apply 6 months beforehand, unlike most campus jobs.
