Do we have to pay any fees if we are graduating?

Yes you do. If you fill up your profile in the Graduation Information Centre. You pay as follows:

$40: if you are attending your convocation and getting your diploma on the day.
$25: if you're not attending your convocation but want your diploma send by mail
Free: if you're not attending your convocation but are able to pick up your diploma in the Registrar Office

Oh yeah, make sure you don't have any outstanding fees before graduation which is your student account.

It is essential to do the profile or the Registrar won't know if you're intended to graduate this year or not. Also, it is similar to an RSVP so they also won't know if you're attending your ceremony or not. http://registrar.mcmaster.ca /convo-quick-links/

I don't know if you can still do it now but you can try. The Registrar are sending the tickets to those people attending the ceremony this coming week.

Since there is no alternative, yes, you should call.
Whether or not it will be productive is another story. Most people have no idea what happens in this situation because they fill out the form online (or have not yet graduated).
