Residence Internet speed
Moving to an off-campus house next year and I was looking at the package deals, whatever. My question is, does anyone know what the speed of the residence internet is? Thanks!

depends on how much upload/download u do at once. that converts to roughly 500kb download/s (for the person sucking up the most bandwidth at once)

I clocked the rez internet at greater then 50 Mbps so you wont be getting that off campus.

Also, 5 Mbps will be slow for for 7 people. keep in mind the speed they advertise is Bits not bytes, which means 5/8 = 630 kylobytes per sec for downloading the entire house.

if you have any gamers in the house or people who stream movies/shows, id go for higher. our package is 25Mbps from bell and it has been pretty good. we have 7 people as well

For one person it's fine, at least for me. Me and my roommate though..it's too low then.

how much do you guys know of TekSavvy? Cuz i found this deal (for cable, is that bad?) and the speed was 24 Mbps (download) with unlimited data for $55/month, but I read somewhere (not entirely sure) that Teksavvy isn't available in all areas of Hamilton or the signals pretty weak. Anyone know anything about that?

The biggest thing ive heard about them is that their customer service is terrible so if you have problem then it takes a long time to get fixed. thats why we stuck with bell.

I haven't had any problems with customer service when I was with them.

When I had teksavvy, I found their customer service to be phenomenal. Much better than any other internet provider (like rogers and cogeco)
