I'm just wondering when the residence assignments are done and emailed to us? Also, in that email it will tell me my building, floor, and room, right? Does it give any information about your roommate? like an email so you can start talking over the summer?

And it tells you your room, floor and building and may give you the email address of your roommate if they chose to have it be released.

You'll get an email in the beginning of july (last year i remember it being june 29)
You'll get an email telling you to log in(the link will be provided) to find out your results.

Your building, your room number (which will be something like 301, so you know it's on the 3rd floor) will be provided. If your roommate checked off the option of providing an email for you to contact, you'll get that as well!

where was this option? i don't ever remember seeing it, and i just went back now and looked trough my whole residence application, and i don't see it.

I have a question about the residence application. Is it too late to change my room preferences? When I log on, I am still able to access them, but would changing them now have any effect?

Also, I heard that if I make it to the Dean's Honour List, I am guaranteed the room of my choice? Is this true?

hmm, I think they may have changed it this year, but i remember it was like that last year and i accidentally put my mac email instead of my personal one..

anyways, don't worry about it, you'll probably automatically get their email then.

You don't actually get their email. There's a button that asks if you'd like to message them. And you can contact them through that. And it goes to their personal email address that they have on file. And if you contact them, you can ask them for their email yourself and just go through that. Also, when they reply to you, it'll go to the email you have on file, so either your personal email of your Mac email depending on which one you put.

I don't think changing them now is a good idea =/. Contact Housing just to be sure. I'm not quite sure about the guarantee of your first choice. I believe being on the Dean's Honour List gets you a guarantee into residence (assuming you handed in everything by the deadline i.e. the application and $600 deposit), but not necessarily your first choice.

i'm absolutely sure they gave out the emails last year if you checked that option. They might have changed it this year though

Give out the emails straight out? No, you had a choice to enter whether or not you'd like your roommate to be able to contact you and asked you to enter your email. But when it came around and room assignments were out, my roommate's first name was written and beside it a "Message" button. When you clicked that, it takes you to a page where you can type in your message, and click send. No emails were give out right away, from what I remember at least.
I'm going into second year too, so I went through last year's application process as well.

Well I guess your roommate didn't choose the option of providing you with her email if you had to contact her through a message.

My roommate and I both chose that option, and both of our emails were displayed. I clearly remember emailing my roommate from my gmail account.

I'm assuming that's probably it.

To Needlenose: I recently got an email from Res Life stating that there were a few rooms still available for upper years. I imagine they may not have finished all their assignments yet. You could contact them and see what happens:
