				Scholarships (second year and up)

Hey guys, so on MUGSI --> Academic stuff --> Scholarships and awards, I'm eligible for a scholarship but it still says eligible for consideration. It's some Dr. H.L. Hooker one (lol at the name). My questions are as follows:

A) Is there a place to apply for more in-school scholarships? Like a site or something?

B) When would you apply for these? Sometime before November?

C) When it says eligible for consideration, does that mean I could possibly be rejected or is it just a formality until the school year starts?

Thanks

I do not have an answer to your question, but rather a further question to build upon yours. On my mugsi, i do not have any indication what so ever to even be in the process of being considered for any scholarships. I find this weird as i had an 11.2 average my 2nd year, and I am now entering my 3rd in life science.

Anyone experiencing this as well???

 A) SFAS website, but most scholarships you don't have to apply to.

B) Each has their own deadlines

C) You can be rejected.

It all depends on how you compare to other students and there are always students getting ridiculously high averages.

		 Better question:
Has anyone with "eligible for consideration" status on macinsiders personally been rejected from receiving such a scholarship?

Does anyone know how the University (Senate) Scholarships work? Can you only get that if you're not getting another award?
Because last week I was 'eligible for consideration' for a University (Senate) Scholarship, but now that's gone and I'm eligible for another award.

Edit: Nevermind, I was right. You can only the Senate Scholarship if you're not getting another award of $800 or higher. From this FAQ: sfas.mcmaster.ca/pdf/2007/FAQ_Incourse.pdf

I have no idea why it disappeared. Maybe someone at SFAS knows why.

There are restrictions on the number of awards you can receive, but that shouldn't affect the eligibility.

This year for the faculty of science to be considered for the Hooker scholarship you need a 11.4 or higher GPA. To be considered for the senate scholarship you need a 10.9 ( I believe, could be a little lower thou). I personally called and checked

Just to add to that, the hooker scholarship is valued at $1500 whereas the senate one is valued at $800
