Should I do Assigned Readings
I'm in engineering 1, just wondering if I should bother doing the assigned reading. More specifically 1p03 and 1c03, would it effect my mark if I didnt do the readings. Would it be better for me to skim the textbook and focus on the bolded definitions?

It just seems like a waste of time.

I found just going to tutorials for C03 and doing a little bit of CAD practice at the very beginning was enough.

As for P03 I did alll the readings directly before the midterm/exam and did fine. You can breeze though most of it very quickly. Readings are recommended though because the prof takes a lot of questions from the book.

Make sure to keep up with ALLL readings for math, chem, physics, materials etc or you and 90% of engineers are gonna feel some serious heat come exam time.

Midterms are only a few weeks away!

i stopped doing readings for 1c03. It isn't that useful. Just go to lectures, skim the books reading the bold words. For 1p03 just read it once before the test

1P03 has really dense and dull info, so I would give it a bit of time to read but it helped for tests. The only thing you need the 1c03 book for is the hand drawn assignments, but never have actually read it before and ended with a high mark

Whenever I would ask something like this to my high school engineering teacher he'd respond with this: "I don't care, you can go live in a box, its all up to you"

Be the judge of whether you need to do the readings; if you've having no problem understanding the lectures, you probably don't need to do 'readings'. People will say 'x textbook is useless' but it really depends on what sort of learner you are, reading ahead, then understanding fully during a lecture could save you untold amounts of hours in studying later. (not 1p03/1c03, but a general rule)
