stats 1l03 as an elective in nursing...thoughts?
Hey! So, this year I'm going into first year Nursing. It was tough trying to find an elective to fit my schedule (wanted latin or stats; got neither that is until today, however) but I was able to get into one of the electives I wanted which is STATS 1L03. I'm aware that the Nursing program is a little intense so I was wondering if it's reasonable to consider this course. I've read some of the older threads about it and opinions were mixed. I did pretty well in math in high school but obviously when you get to university things change. So...what's you're opinion? Is this course doable w/ a 6 course work load?

Do-able? Yes, why not?
Alot of the time it comes down to the commitment and dedication you have to your course load.

Obviously you're smart enough to enter the program that you're in right now. But are you smart enough to keep in it?

If you feel confident that your highschool data management marks can propel you through 1L03 then go for it! If math is your strong suit, then go for it.

I had to take STATS1L03. I did fairly well, but the teacher was easy. Seems like McLean is teaching it this year, he does a good job.

So if the questions I asked above satisfy, then I'd say go for it. But... gotta keep in mind, STATS as an elective is not the same as... other course

Actually you cannot take this course if you took data management, that being said this course is very doable.

I believe that there is a nursing stats that is to be taken in second year so you might be doubling up on your stats courses. Check the course list for second year to see what you have to take.

As well, keep trying to get into electives when it opens up again in August. Sometimes people drop courses.

There's already a Nursing stats course in second year: Hth Sci 2S03 . However, it seems that it's equivalent to Stats 1CC3 not 1L03 so you may be able to take both. However, maybe contact the nursing academic advisors just to make sure the courses don't overlap or anything.
