I don't mind if there are people at booths in the student centre, like selling hats or CDs. But I get annoyed when they come up to you when you're sitting down, eating, studying, walking to class, etc.
I know it sounds like a "First World Problem" complaint, but really - if you pay to attend school, you shouldn't have to be bothered with this kind of stuff. Imagine you were eating dinner at a restaurant and someone came up to you to sell you something. You would be like "wtf? I paid to eat here, not get bombarded with salespeople".
I don't see how this is any different than the painter companies who come into lecture halls (which the MSU recently put a stop to). My tuition pays for lecture time, but it also paid for the MUSC building. Why am I paying for someone to advertise/sell things to me to me?

I actually witnessed someone do that, although he was eventually caught by the rep that went chasing after him. It wasn't like he was stealing the card or anything (at least it seemed that way), but the rep had lost him behind a few people and was speed-walking to catch up to him. The chase was pretty comical.

The thing is, they're there literally EVERY SINGLE DAY. EVERY DAY. Shouldn't there be a monthly limit to their solicitation?
and when they're not in MUSC, they're in bsb's lobby D:<

I actually did that once, but then they said, you cant take that....without signing up for a credit card then activating it then we will send you a "free" spc card.
EDIT: There not only in student center, but everywhere, in JHE, BSB, and wherever else i go they follow me.

It already lacks space in student center when it's busy, don't bother me when I'm trying to get to class.
And I saw the SPC card they were waving around..It's last years. It doesn't even work even if you took it.

*sigh* I'll get back to you guys with an update by tomorrow or Monday at the latest. Technically under MUSC bylaws the vendors are supposed to stay rooted to their stations and the only way they are allowed to contact you is if you willingly walk upto their table. They are not allowed to harass you like that and I remember countless occasions in which I had to go upto the College Pro/Action Window people to request them to stop walking around distributing flyers in the La Piazza Sitting area.
Unfortunately my interactions with Campus in the last few months have turned into Bike in-> Go to Class -> Go to Mills -> Drop by the MSU/SRA Office and nothing else until after 5pm so I didn't specifically notice that these other groups were going upto people minding their own business sitting down.

ya, and today outside 1280 they were harassing ppl because they were giving away free beer. apparently the guy had to meet a quota or something, but i was like WTF how dare you offer me free beer!!!

The BMO SPC card is pretty awesome though, every time I whip it out infront of my friends they comment on how sick it looks.
