Term 3 Courses - How is your GPA determined?
Hello, just a quick question.

Say in a term 3 course, for term 1 you achieve a grade of 10, then second term your achieve a final grade of 11.

How is your GPA calculated?

Would it be 11*2+all other courses or 10+11+all other courses?

Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure that whatever final grade you get in a Term 3 course actually includes your midterm mark. For example, my French professor explained that our class' midterm mark is out of 37.5%, and so the rest of the term accounts for the other 62.5%. When calculating your final mark, your midterm mark is included as part of the mark breakdown.

Anyway, basically, the final grade you get is what you should use in calculating your average, don't worry about your midterm mark at that point.

When your cumulative average is calculated, they just take the final mark for term 3 courses. If the course has 6 units, they double count the final mark. So say you got an 8 as your final mark even though your midterm mark was an 11. The mark of 8 would be counted twice in the average

hi guys.

well, i was wondering if a 6-unit course is worth more than a 3 unit course when it comes to your GPA, or are they all worth the same. sorry if it's a dumb question.

Your CA is calculated by multiplying the mark you get in the course times the number of units, adding all those together and dividing by the total number of units.

So yes, 4, 5 and 6 unit courses do have a bigger impact on your average.

Apologies for bumping an old thread, but how does this work for a full year 3 unit course.. Mac 1st Yr in engineering has this course called 1P03 and its a year round course..so lets say if I had a 6 in first term and a 10 in my final..how would I calculate my SA for this?

Use the final mark, it includes the whole course.
