Transferring from UOIT Commerece
Hey guys, I’m a first year student studying Bcomm accounting at UOIT. Why did I pick UOIT? Parents wanted me to stay at home for first year at least, commute is only an hour, save money/convenient, didn’t know if I wanted to get into business for 4 years. I was also told that going to any uni/college is better than vlapping gr12. Anyways that’s my story, now I really hate my decision going to UOIT. “Orientation day(2 days, that’s right we don’t even get an O-Week) was totally unorganized, the courses they make you take first year are ridiculously easy.. If I want to get my CA designation, I want to get my education from a more notable school that’s going to teach me all I need to know so I’ll be more prepared. Not trying to bash on UOIT, but their Bcomm program isn’t the greatest, it’s about average. But they’re more known for automotive engineering I believe.

So recently, I’ve had my eyes peeled McMaster. Can anyone provide me with some insight with the whole transfer process? Since uoit commerce isn't that reputable, I don't know how transferable my credits are going to be.

What kind of classes are you taking this year? Most likely, some will transfer if there's a McMaster equivalent. First year business is very general here, but second year is supposedly pretty hard to transfer into. I'd take a jaunt down here sometime, take a look at things and maybe plan to meet with an advisor while you're here. In the meantime, get those grades as high as possible!

Your first year looks like it would cover the McMaster equivalents for first year so I would definitely get in touch with McMaster/DeGroote to find out for sure.

None of us here are academic advisors. So, we can only speculate. These things are looked at on a case by case basis assuming you meet the minimum requirements if there are any.

Yes, a chance, but you need to contact McMaster to figure out the details.
