U Pass Almost Finished...What To Do Over The Summer?
Your U Pass (the free [paid for in our students fees as a full-time undergraduate student] bus pass) will expire April 29th, which means you can no longer use it for free bus travel over the summer. It will be available again come September, but what are your options during summer?
There are actually several. Two deal with buying bus fare at a discounted price. If you are riding the bus daily, your best bet is to buy a monthly pass, which costs $79. This is valid for the month it is issued and includes unlimited travel on any HSR buses. Only taking the bus a few times a week? Then you can buy a strip of adult bus tickets for $9.25. The tickets are valid until the end of 2008. Unfortunately for us the student tickets are only for elementary and secdary school students, so we end up paying a little bit more. Cash fare is $2.40 per ride, so no matter which of these two options you choose you will save some money. You can buy the tickets or monthly pass from Compass.
Want some other alternatives?
If you are in close distance to campus you can walk, ride a bike, skateboard, longboard or rollerblade.
Live too far to do that? Have you ever though about ride sharing? The ACT office has a carpooling and ridesharing program which you can look at through
their website.

*update: Tip from James2255 - If you already have a Go-Transit Monthly pass, you can add-on a HSR monthly pass for only $15 by buying a sticker to put on the pass. Unfortunately it isn't available at Compass and you have to go to the downtown GO Centre.
