				Ubuntu Alongside Windows?

I was wondering if I should use Ubuntu. I have used it before (v.9, Koala or whatever animal) and it was fairly alright, but it was on my old shitty PC.

Right now I have a half-decent, 256VRAM multimedia laptop (it's three years old, stfu) and I have Windows 7 64 Bit Professional on it. Was wondering if it would benefit me at all to download, install and run Ubuntu 11.04 alongside it. Last time I used it, it was kinda fun, but there wasn't much to do. Also, as I said, I ran it on an ancient PC. This time it's a far newer version being run on a far better laptop.

Thoughts?

Without a doubt, at least once every year or two, there comes a time in every nerd's life where he wants to dick around with Linux.

This is usually followed by hours spent configuring everything to perfection, downloading some cool looking apps, messing around in the terminal feeling like a hacker.

But then there is the sad realization that all that time spent adjusting settings and reading forum posts to fix basic problems was simply to make the operating system function like Windows already does.

The discouraged nerd might not want to admit this, but realizes this on a subconscious level. However, multiple reformats later, he gets a familiar thought. "Hey, ubuntu looks cool, maybe I should give it another try..."

TL;DR: install virtualbox and run ubuntu through there, get your fix, and save time.

I second Wubi. Very easy to use; minimal use of terminals so it's user friendly. And as the above poster said, no partioning ftw.
