Undergrad courses Masters Degree?
I was just curious if you can take Undergrad courses while doing your Masters degree, since I saw a TA (who's doing his MSc) in my 3rd year Biology class.

I know for Geography several of the graduate school courses overlap with undergrad courses - so you attend the same lectures but have to complete additional work.

Not sure about bio, but I know with some social science programs you will take undergrad courses during an MA if you have a weak background in a particular area. In most cases (but again this is social science) you would have slightly different assignments for the course than the undergrads were. Like the papers you handed in would be longer and more independently researched and things like that, or you would have extra assignments or something.

They have different course codes, but SOME courses overlap. For example, Biochem 4Q03 (biochemical pharmacology) is a 4th year course, but it's "cross-listed" with biochem 6Q03, which is for grad students. They sit in the same physical lecture rooms, write the same tests, but have an additional essay to complete that undergrads in 4Q03 do not have to do.

Grad course codes tend to start with 6 and 7.

On the other hand, that Masters student might be the TA for the class, sitting in to find out what is being taught. Check the classlist in Avenue!

Well im a master student in engineering. It's true we could take undergraduate courses. But to my best knowledge, we are only allowed to take 4th year undergraduate courses, can't be lower. Only masters could take that and phd cannot.

-Ish- says thanks to Felixmse for this post.
