It's mostly luck. I've heard that usually the top 100 get in, but it depends on how many people drop out. So, chances are decent you'll get a room, but significantly lower that it will be a single room. Having said that, I'm not 100% sure how they deal with wait-list people with special accomodations--you can call them and ask, but generally people on the wait-list just take whatever becomes available. There's a whole bunch of things that can affect whether you get a single room. For example, say you're #1 on the wait list, and a quad becomes available, but you really don't want to live in a quad. If you reject the room, are you moved to the bottom of the wait list? Or do you still get first dibs on the next room available, while the quad is offered to the person who's #2? I don't know exactly how they do it, but they'd probably explain it to you if you call and ask
