ok, narrowed down to 3...really confused now

the Asus G51-RX05 is in a different league altogether but the other two,
is the performance gain of the GT 130M compared to a 9600M GT isn't worth the extra $57??
I just checked my balance and I have only $960 !!! and won't be getting any money since after christmas (will take atleast 2 to 5 business days after my dad sends it)
also, if I get the MSIs, they're 17" and I would need a bigger backpack for it plus I am also trying to get a $35 3.5" eSata enclosure

lol, I am trapped and I need a laptop which can handle Assassin's Creed 2 at medium/medium low atleast!

by the way, I'm selling two Toshiba accessories

no, I am still saving this piece of junk for later operations, you know I can buy a system with less ram and replace that ram with 4GB...and I think I'll be doing that when my sister gets a laptop

battery is more important...buy that lol i need money atm

Oh and forgot to tell.

Archos 5 refurb'ed (non-android) for $74.97 @ Tigerdirect.ca physical stores! (RedFlagDeals.com boxing week flyer says so)

if I had any extra money, i would've gotten it (could be a typo but well worth checking i say)

I'll double check what model of Toshiba laptop we bought my sister and ask her if she's interested in either of those items.

Bought!
check the pics:

I haven't set up the rest of the partitions yet, most probably

there will be a 3 GB page file partition and the rest for games with a 2nd hdd of 400GB with 1 partition for Ubuntu (which I know I won't use lol) and the rest for documents since that partition already exists

Working at Staples as a tech sales area rep for 2 years taught me that companies are not lenient/compassionate to people's problems, when the issue comes to money, hence they encourage the accidental warranties...

Staples, nevertheless, usually is understanding even if the damage is accidental, they will repair pretty much everything in the laptop for you, even if harm is accidental, but you got a good reaosn for it and they cant prove you otherwise. Only exception to that is the Water damage, as there are red stickers to back up the ACIDENTAL damage part.

Finding a laptop with ATI 4650 under 1grand is unreal. I bought dv6-1264ca (Artist Edition v2) during the back to school for 950$.

What i would recomend you to do in your situation if Toshiba are being ********s :

1) Buy a laptop from Costco - they have 90 day return policy, and a free 2 year warranty.
2) Buy a hard drive enclosure, transfer data from toshiba by urself, then return the encolusre back to the store.

Also, have a look at this laptop. Best bang for your buck with 4650. http://www.costco.ca/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=1 0331136&whse=BCCA&Ne= 4000000&eCat=BCCA|84| 22494&N=4009835&Mo=28 &No=12&Nr=P_CatalogNa me:BCCA&cat=22494&Ns= P_Price|1||P_SignDesc 1&lang=en-CA&Sp=C&hierPath=84*2 2494*22497*&topnav==
or this with a Quad Core... Still cheaper than your gateway, while the videocard is marginally weaker.

LOOL

no... i didnt register just to post a reply to you, I'm considering mac for next year, and ive been lurking here since the begining of December... Can't add anything meaningful to other conversations though ...

Your computer's specs are NOT MUCH higher; but its irrefutably a great deal.

Out of curiosity, why did you get a 17"? Isnt it a great hassle to carry the giant thing around? And seeing how you probably won't be able to rely much on battery for power, is it hard to find an outlet at Mac both at library and at the lecture halls? My laptop, though new, is not really energy efficient, so that is a concern to me.

i dont know about lecture halls...you'll probably find a free socket when sitting at the front near the prof's sockets

but library is full of outlets...theres a row on every table in the laptop area! and yes it is some hassle to carry it, seeing that it's 9 pounds but i will probably be taking it to no classes since i prefer writing out my notes for retention

the GDDR3 9800M GTS is going to be awesome! I just miss the Mac DC++ hub atm :(

I agree, they aren't MUCH but for the price...its better

which program are you considering?

Thanks for a reply! Yea, thats my concern. When i bought my laptop, i went for performance, not for longevity of the battery/lightweight. (Its a 16"/6 pounds btw) I dont mind its weight/size, but i am freightened about the fact that it won't last long on battery power.

I'm considering Humanities - hopefully a major in English and a minor in Linguistics; will be applying soon.

I cant decide between Mac, Queens, and UofT. I loved the atmosphere at Mac thou.

Queen's was the only school that rejected me, and I still wish I could go there.
