No, they're not allowed to do so.

yes! Rogers has been giving me these problems every time I'm in Hamilton since last year. Is wind any better? I'm thinking about switching. it's cheaper too

I have problems even with wind. The signal in classrooms is really weak.

You don't go to class to use your phone anyway.

Call rogers and complain. I called three times in 3 days, they finally got someone out there I think. They texted me saying that there are connectivity/congestion issues with the campus towers that service the area, and that they're working on fixing it. They gave me $5 credit back so far for the issues. Just make sure you call and let them know, if you do nothing, nothing will get done.

Right...

I suppose they should ban the Internet from being used in classrooms as well, because people should be focused on lecture and not Facebook, right?

I should be able to use a phone regardless of where I am, unless it's unreasonable to do so (i.e., being underground). If someone's in class and not underground they should be able to use their phone all they want. No one gives a **** about paying attention in lecture or tutorial.
